Garrett Powertrain Innovation Award

Garrett is proud to grant the Innovation Award to promote powertrain innovation technology solutions for engineering students to enable the advancement of the Electrical Vehicle Powertrain in the Formula East and Formula Czech.

SCOPE

The Garrett Powertrain Innovation Award is applicable to the differentiated product or process of the Formula Student EV Racing vehicles.

CRITERIA FUNDAMENTALS

This award honors Formula Student EV teams whose accomplishments include:

Outstanding research of the problem statement
Contributions to developing next generation formula student technology
Innovative & differentiated design approach
How much of the design solutions or architecture was formulated by the team

DEADLINE

FS East – APPLICATION DEADLINE – Aug 4^th2023

FS CZ – APPLICATION DEADLINE – Aug 11^th2023

ELIGIBILITY

WHO – Any Formula Student EV team is eligible. There is no limit as to how many students can be in the team.

APPLICATIONS – There’s no limit to the number of applications submitted per team.

NOTE – You will need to participate in the Formula Student East or Formula Czech EV race to qualify.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

A Garrett expert will evaluate the innovation technology and schedule a time to see it during the race.

Points will be awarded based on:

Quantification of benefits and trade-offs

(Efficiency, mass reduction, cooling capacity, battery capacity, reduction on lap time …)

Differentiation
Complexity
Ingenuity
Impact
Teamwork

RECOGNITION

This award consists of:

An innovation recognition and a $1,500 honorarium
A discovery experience at Garrett’s largest R&D Center in Brno, CZ and enjoy a fun innovation & learning experience funded by Garrett*
