Flow Data
Garrett engineers created GVW as a high flowing product with low degradation in performance over its lifespan. Here’s how the three GVW wastegate sizes flow in LBS/MIN and KG/SEC at various increments of the valve stroke.
Accessing the Knowledge Center effectively requires a simple, one-time registration.
Kendall Samuel and Mary Abigail Barker started Mechanical Advantage Racing together in March of 2021. The two provide an array of mechanical and fabrication services for racing and performance vehicles, and marketing services (including the photos and video seen here). In addition, they both campaign their own race cars. Combined they have a wealth of racing and performance knowledge.
In this video Kendall, unboxes two of the GVW wastegates (GWV-40 GVW-45), talks about the features, and all of the components that come in the boxes. Watch as Kendal talks about the wastegates, wastegate spring pressures, fittings, v-bands and more, and Mary shows you how to install them.

The valve housing is cast from high temp stainless steel and rated for exhaust temperatures up to 1050° C. CFD optimized for maximum flow and thermal efficiency.
Garrett Vent | External Wastegates are created by the engineers that designed G-Series and GTX Gen II turbochargers. Available in three sizes: 40mm | 45mm | 50mm
GVW Wastegate flanges can be references in this data:
GVW wastegates are set to 1 Bar | 14.5 PSI of base pressure and can be configured from 0.2 Bar | 2.9 PSI – 1.7 Bar | 24.7 PSI (considering 1:1 backpressure).
