From Bangalore to Brno: How Relocation Became a Catalyst for Growth
When Renjith Ramananda Shenoi moved from Bangalore to Brno, he changed more than just countries – he changed his perspective.
As Software Features and Requirements Owner at Garrett’s Electrification Center of Excellence, he applies over a decade of automotive mechatronics expertise to accelerate innovation in e-compressors, electric vehicle cooling, and electrified control systems.
His work spans software innovation, cost optimization, platform development, process improvements, and application lifecycle management implementation, all in collaboration with a global engineering team.
“Relocating from India to the Czech Republic was more than a career move — it was a leap into the unknown,” says Renjith. “I arrived with excitement and apprehension in equal measure. What I’ve gained has been transformative.”
The transition wasn’t without challenges: navigating bureaucracy, securing housing, registering for healthcare, and overcoming the language barrier. However, support from colleagues, translation tools, and expat communities made all the difference.
“The most unexpected challenges taught me the most,” he says. “Relocating isn’t just about changing countries; it’s about changing habits, perspectives, and sometimes even your definition of home.”
Living and working in Brno has changed how he approaches collaboration and problem-solving.
“Being part of a global team has made me more strategic, empathetic, and agile,” he reflects. “It’s pushed me to think differently, adapt quickly, and grow in ways I wouldn’t have back home.“
His advice to anyone considering relocation?
“Trust yourself. Stay flexible. Build your support network early. Stepping outside your comfort zone can be overwhelming, but that’s where the most meaningful growth happens.”
