Meet #GenerationGarrett
Giovanna Nabahan
Customer Service Analyst
Customer happiness first . . . always first! These words not only reflect Garrett Motion work culture, but are a career guiding principle for Garrett Motion Brazil’s Giovanna Nabahan.
Giovanna thrives on a love of learning and a passion for engineering. It was while studying production engineering that she read about Garrett innovation and how the company’s technology is helping the world’s best automotive manufacturers address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Giovanna landed an opening as a Garrett intern in the Purchase department in Brazil in March 2016 – quickly turning the opportunity into a career full of potential.
She says that “people have the power to transform our days.” Here, in her #GarrettGeneration story, she outlines what drives her as a Customer Service Analyst, and highlights how Garrett’s work environment helped her develop.
Career growth: learning every day
“I’ve always known that I wanted to work in the manufacturing industry. I had studied production engineering and so when the opportunity arose to join such a big automotive name as Garrett as an intern, I jumped at the chance. I really liked the idea of working for a brand that reinvented itself and developed new technologies focused on providing solutions to environmental challenges.
My first job here was supporting the purchase of indirect materials and services for the Brazil plant. Two months after I started, there was a change internally which meant I was responsible for a number of additional projects – but I had great support from my supervisor based in Mexico. I learned so much from him and the rest of the team. Then I received a permanent position in the supply chain team, looking after customers. Since I love working with people, this was a dream job for me. Last year I was promoted to Customer Service Analyst.”
I would recommend Garrett to anyone who enjoys working as a unified team while learning something new every day
Garrett’s work environment: Great team work makes the difference
“Today, I work in a team supporting OEMs, ensuring that we keep customers happy, which means staying flexible to cope with any unexpected requests and always with a focus on exceeding their expectations. For me, it’s customer happiness first . . . always first!
Like everyone, I’m still learning from what I achieve, from the mistakes I make sometimes, and from the experience and expertise inside the team. It is being part of a team that motivates me; our sense of working together means we are all there to help each other, even during the times when not everything goes according to plan. And when everything does go well and we exceed customer expectations and the company gets public recognition, that’s when I am really happy. I know that it sounds tacky, but I often imagine Garrett Brazil like a mother: nurturing people to excellence.”
Taking on challenges to go forward
I am always excited by new challenges. For example, when I was working in the Purchase Department, I worked on the automatization of indirect purchase orders. It helped our plant a lot in terms of speed, and productivity by minimizing the manual input.
Having worked in both Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) and Procurement , I have a clear understanding of how the dynamics work within the business to create success. Everyone knows that the customer comes first, and because we have a great team relationship, we can share information quickly to deliver the best possible support to our customers. In a nutshell, everyone always makes themselves available to help each other – people have the power to transform our days!

Don’t be afraid of challenges; focus on delivering the best results you can
I would recommend Garrett to anyone who enjoys working as a unified team while learning something new every day. We are quite a small group of people with very important work to do, so we need to be highly agile and precise in our processes and information flows. Garrett as an work environment is also a great place to learn, and I hope everyone of my age is in a similar position to succeed.
Even now, I continue to learn a lot at Garrett. My general advice is always to listen before talking, because learning from people with expertise and business know-how has certainly helped me to perform better, even if they were from completely different parts of the company – from engineering and manufacturing, to accounting and human resources.
Don’t give up even when work seems challenging, keep developing your skills and always focus on delivering the best results you can. And then, who knows what can happen?
