Leading across
all vehicle types
From compact hybrids to race cars, heavy-duty trucks to monster off-highway engines, turbo technologies developed by Garrett boost the world’s auto industry. Our investment in research and development is underlined by more than 1,400 patents, leading to innovations driving seismic shifts in passenger car and commercial vehicle performance, fuel efficiency and emissions control. As a result, Garrett engine boosting technology leads across all vehicle types, engine types and in every region, with a worldwide install base of 140 million cars and trucks and an Aftermarket catalogue of 5,300 products.
Electrified Era
This success across gasoline, diesel and natural gas powertrains – proven through landmark innovations in variable geometry turbines, dual-boost compressors, ball bearing rotors and electrically actuated controls – now continues into the auto industry’s new electrified era. As hybrid and full battery vehicle adoption grows, our relationship with OEMs goes further than ever before. Our engineers are not only developing synergistic electrically-assisted boosting and generation technologies, but going deeper into electrical integration, software controls and advanced sensors. For fuel cell, our innovative TwoStage electric compressor fuses aerospace and automotive expertise, using air foil bearing technology to eliminate any potential for oil contamination.
Garrett and Connected Vehicle Solutions
Garrett is also pushing deep into connected vehicle capability, collaborating with a Tier 1 partners to develop the cybersecurity, predictive maintenance and diagnostics systems needed to deliver the vision of a future where vehicles are connected, autonomous, shared and safe to use.
