Compressor Map Overlay Explained

The compressor map overlay illustrates the airflow and pressure ratio differences between the G-XRace GXR38-64 V-Band compressor outlet and the Hose compressor outlet. In key operating regions, the compressor provides increased airflow capability at comparable pressure ratios, expanding the usable operating range and supporting higher horsepower potential where engine demand allows.

To fully realize these gains, ECU calibration is necessary to optimize performance when upgrading from a previous-generation turbocharger.

FAQ

Where can I buy the Garrett G-XRace GXR38-64 turbocharger?

Use the Garrett Dealer Locator to find an authorized retailer or distributor. Purchasing through an authorized source ensures product authenticity, technical support, and warranty coverage.

Will I need to retune my engine when installing a G-XRace turbocharger?

Yes. Performance results are highly dependent on vehicle configuration and ECU calibration. The increased airflow capability of the G-XRace compressor requires proper tuning to optimize performance, drivability, and durability.

Does G-Series I, G-Series II, and G-XRace product lines utilize the same turbine wheel?

Yes. G-Series I, G-Series II, and G-XRace turbochargers utilize the same turbine aero. They are designed to support a direct upgrade path for existing users who want to change between frame and models. If swapping between similar frame sizes, ie G42 – GXR42, users can interchange original turbine housings.

How does G-XRace differ from G-Series turbochargers?

G-XRace turbochargers feature updated compressor aerodynamics that provide increased airflow, pressure ratio, and efficiency compared to the other models. These improvements expand the usable operating range and support higher horsepower potential, where engine demand allows which is typically better suited for drag racing and xtreme horsepower applications.

Why is turbo speed monitoring recommended for high-performance applications?

Monitoring turbocharger shaft speed helps prevent overspeed conditions that can affect long-term durability. G-XRace turbochargers feature a fully machined speed sensor port, allowing users to monitor operating conditions, especially at higher performance levels.
