Formula Student 2026 is a premier international engineering student racing competition. Focusing on electric vehicle innovation, Garrett Motion grants Powertrain Innovation Awards to outstanding teams, and sponsors both races and university teams to foster the next generation of engineers in electric mobility. The company goes beyond simply funding the teams to build their vehicles. The 2026 competition calendar contains some prestigious events in the Formula Student and Formula SAE ecosystem, offering teams the opportunity to compete on an international stage. This year Garrett Motion is sponsoring three  races:

• Formula SAE Michigan, USA – June 16–20, 2026
• Formula Student Czech Republic – July 19–24, 2026
• Formula Student Italy – September 2–6, 2026

• Garrett Powertrain Innovation Award – Formula Student Czech Republic: The award is designed to promote forward-thinking powertrain technology solutions.
• SAE International Garrett Powertrain Innovation Award: This award is extending Garrett’s commitment globally. The award focuses on fostering innovation in electric vehicle powertrains, empowering students to develop transformative technologies that will define the future of electric mobility.

Garrett’s University Relations strategy involves recruiting talents from technical universities producing high quality students. Sponsoring their Formula Student teams is an important part of this strategy.

Among the outstanding Garrett sponsored teams participating in the 2026 season are: TU Brno Racing (Brno Technical University), Georgia Tech Motorsports or GTMS (Georgia Tech), HyTech Racing (Georgia Tech), EPFL Racing Team (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and  Squadra Corse PoliTo (Polytechnic University of Turin).
