Jeff Kiesel Takes the Win, Sets Top Time
Jeff Kiesel in the 2011 KFR / Goodyear Tire / Racing Beat Turbo Sprite brought home the SCCA Win in EM and set the Top PAXed time for both the day in his class and the Top Time for all Cars at the 2011 San Diego National Tour. Kiesel put down a great first run of 48.024. However, halfway through his second run, the ring and pinion shattered bringing the car to a halt. After replacing the rear end Saturday night, Sunday brought new hope for setting the low time. Kiesel again laid down a great first run of 44.265, improving on his second run of 43.844, and blasting a smoking-fast third run of 43.360, but picked up 2 cones in the process. Even with getting only one run on day one and coning his fastest run on day two, Kiesel still set top PAX time of day for the whole event. PAX is a index based on the cars potential ability which equalizes the vehicles, allowing a driver in any class to beat a driver in a more prepared or faster class. Jeff Kiesel uses the Garrett GTX3071 turbo on his 13b rotary-powered Sprite. “The new GTX turbo is working out amazing! Our car has more low end, more top end and the power delivery is more manageable. The GTX series is a big improvement over the GT series and has dropped our lap times,” exclaimed Kiesel.
