GARRETT Turns Loose the Horsepower at Annual SEMA Show
Garrett unveiled the most comprehensive series of product enhancements for its Honeywell Garrett brand of aftermarket turbochargers in the past decade at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.
The Garrett brand of aftermarket performance turbos has a new flagship GTX3584RS performance turbo that supports a range of 2.0L to 5.5L engines and is capable of helping produce between 500 and 1,000 horsepower in a compact package. The new GTX3584RS is well-suited for engine builders and racers wanting high horsepower and fast boost response in a package perfect for tight installations.
The new Garrett GTX Series Gen II Turbochargers were also announced at SEMA with upgrades to seven frame sizes and corresponding horsepower range increases from 70 to 700hp depending on the specific turbo.
Garrett also added select reverse rotation versions for a handful of products in response to demand from fabricators and installers seeking an option for twin turbo setups. Reverse rotation turbos are designed for the compressor wheel to rotate counterclockwise thereby pointing the housing outlet in the opposite direction from a standard rotation turbocharger creating a more aesthetically pleasing visual symmetry best suited for v-block shaped engines.
“We are using advanced technology connected under the larger umbrella of our Honeywell Aerospace business to help design and manufacture turbo solutions that have made Honeywell a turbo leader for more than 60 years,” said, Eric Fraysse, Aftermarket vice president and general manager at Honeywell Transportation Systems. “Garrett is synonymous with trusted performance in the aftermarket and with these new offerings represent an ever greater value for the enthusiast tuner.”
