WCX19 Garrett’s Peter Davies C.Eng FIMechE flanked by AVL VP Uwe Dieter Grebe and Mazda N America Chairman and CEO Masahiro Moto, takes part in a discussion during SAE International World Congress in Detroit. The panel was in complete agreement that there are many technologies ahead that will keep the internal combustion engine (ICE) at the forefront of future powertrain development, especially through ICE + electrified hybridization. Mr Davies will emphasize that there is still significant potential to optimize both conventional and hybridized ICE based powertrains and that indeed the best is still to come.
“Boosting an Engine to enable high efficiency, low emission advanced combustion technologies is our prime objective. Advanced Wastegates turbochargers, Variable Geometry Turbines and electric Turbochargers are all being deployed to ensure that the ICE reaches its full potential.”
