Jamboree brings Australia’s Premier Sport Compact Drag Racing and Show Spectacular to Willowbank Raceway.
The Jamboree event was started in 1991 by a group of drag racing enthusiasts from Volkswagen Drivers Car Club of QLD to fill a void in the small car scene. Ray Box and Mark Stanbury ran the Jamboree as club members for over 5 years. After this time Ray and Mark formed Small Car Productions and then the Sport Compact Group to run and promote the Jamboree & other Sport Compact events throughout Australia.
The Jamboree has established itself as the Premier Event on the small car enthusiast’s calendar in Australia. It’s not all about drag racing either! There is just as much happening at the Jamboree off the track with a massive Show-N-Shine, Car Audio Sound Offs, Dyno Exhibitions, Babe & Bikini Comps, Drifting Exhibitions, Automotive Product Displays, Competitions, Giveaways, Jambo Kids Rides and much more. Many teams and spectators plan their holidays around the Jamboree these days.

The Brisbane Jamboree has become the 2nd largest event on the Willowbank Raceway calendar with the multi day event, the Winter Nationals being the largest. The Brisbane Jamboree has grown to a level when we see close to 500 competitors and approx 10,000 spectators through the gate.
In 2004 the event calendar was expanded into NSW with the opening of the Sydney Dragway and the introduction of the Compak Attak event, now the Sydney Jamboree. The Sydney Jamboree has grown from strength to strength and is widely recognized by racers, sponsors, spectators and SD as the best Sport Compact event in NSW. In 2006 a 2nd Queensland event was established in the form of the Mini-Jam giving Australia’s Sport Compact Capital a 2nd event for hungry enthusiasts. In 2007 our 1st Victoria event was launched with the Summer Slam at the Heathcote Park Raceway.
The development of the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series in 2007 was the biggest thing to happen in Australian drag racing for many years and Sport Compact Group is proud to have pioneered the way for this to become a reality.
No less than 12 new classes were developed to better cater for the unique Australian Sport Compact community allowing opportunities for the Sport Compact racers to express themselves through their cars like never before.
