Despite rain-soaked skies over Bucharest’s iconic Piața Constituției, the 2025 RoDrift Championship season opener ignited the city with turbocharged excitement. Thousands of motorsport fans gathered near the Palace of the Parliament to witness Romania’s premier drift competition, showcasing the raw power and precision of high-performance cars.
Celebrating its 11th anniversary, RoDrift has grown into a national phenomenon, now boasting a community of over 70,000 passionate drift enthusiasts. The event highlighted the surging popularity of drifting and the increasing demand for cutting-edge turbo power solutions.
At the heart of the action was Garrett – Advancing Motion, drawing crowds to its dynamic stand. Visitors engaged with Garrett’s expert engineering team, explored three detailed turbocharger cutaways, and tested their knowledge in a multilingual Turbo Quiz—available in Romanian, English, and Bulgarian. Winners proudly walked away with exclusive Garrett merchandise. The Garrett Marketplace also made waves, offering easy access to the latest in turbo power and performance parts for drift and street cars alike.
Garrett Motion employee, passionate and enthusiast Thomas Staiculescu: “For Garrett Motion, being part of this event was not just about displaying our latest technology, but about truly engaging with the broader automotive community. Our interactive stand offered more than a standard product showcase. We set out to create a space where visitors could get hands-on with turbine and automotive innovation, put their knowledge to the test in real-time contests, and have direct conversations with our engineers.”
On the track, Garrett-sponsored driver Cătălin Trifan of 3Fun Performance, backed by Magyar Turbo, unleashed his 1,200 whp Garrett-powered BMW E46 in the Pro category. While he didn’t score points, his performance left a lasting impression, demonstrating the sheer force of turbo power in competitive drifting.
The event featured 80 skilled drivers across Pro and Semi-Pro categories, delivering edge-of-your-seat action despite challenging weather and on-track incidents. The unwavering enthusiasm of the crowd underscored Romania’s growing love for drift competitions and high-performance cars.
A major highlight was the legendary quad-turbo Lupo Bimoto from DOP Motorsport, displayed near the Garrett stand. This engineering marvel captivated fans, offering a rare glimpse at one of the most powerful quad-turbo setups in the drift scene.
With the 2025 RoDrift season off to a phenomenal start, Garrett is proud to fuel the future of drifting with relentless innovation and turbo power. Stay tuned for more high-octane action as the championship continues!
