GARRETT has once again been named the presenting sponsor of the famous Jamboree drag racing series for the seventh year in a row. Australia’s premier sport compact drag racing and show spectacular series, Jamboree events are known for being some of the most popular in the country.

Countless race teams, as well as fans, plan their holidays and travel schedules around the Jamboree. A typical one-day event draws, on average, 200+ drag racing competitors, 100+ show cars, and approximately 6,000 people. The largest of the three annual events, the Garrett Brisbane Jamboree, regularly sees upwards of 500 competitors and 10,000 people through the gate.

Founded in 1991 by a group of enthusiasts on a mission to fill a void in the small Queensland car scene, the Jamboree quickly grew to include more than a dozen thrilling drag racing. Massive show-n-shines, car audio sound off competitions, dyno challenges, drifting exhibitions, automotive product displays, competitions, children’s entertainment, and much more all contributed to the Jamboree’s initial success and have kept the series going strong for more than two decades.

Every Spring, the two-day Garrett Sydney Jamboree is held at the famed Sydney Dragway. In the Fall, things heat up with the Garrett Brisbane Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway and the Garrett Jamboree Melbourne edition following not after in October at Heathcote Raceway Park.

In 2020 and 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic forced an unexpected shutdown of many major racing-related events. Fortunately, only one Jamboree race was impacted by the Coronavirus and it was able to be successfully held at a later date. In 2022, however, the season started with the Sydney race being postponed due to inclement weather conditions not once but twice.

With a disruption of the longstanding standard schedule, enthusiasts are hungrier than ever for the excitement that the Jamboree’s events offer – and 2022 is shaping up to be a record-setting season in many regards from on-track records to attendance. The next event of the year will be the Garrett Brisbane Jamboree on August 20-21 at Willowbank Raceway.

“We have just announced a third event, the Garrett Melbourne Jamboree, on October 15,” shared Kelly Bettes on behalf of the Jamboree. In addition to the great news for the organization’s competitors based in the state of Victoria, the Jamboree team has even more new and exciting opportunities for its participants. “In 2023, we are hoping to increase to four events across Australia and introduce a Jamboree points system.”

The Australian drag racing scene is known all over the world for having some of the best action both on the track and in the pits.
