Technical Papers

Join us at the SIA Powertrain International Congress and Exhibition in Paris, France, from June 14-15, 2023, for live presentations of these cutting-edge research papers:

Integrated Modelling of a Fuel Cell Electric Truck for Energy Management Optimization – Garrett Motion co-authors an insightful research piece that delves into the potential of hydrogen-powered fuel cell (FC) technology as a pivotal tool for achieving zero tailpipe CO2 emissions in freight transport. The team developed a comprehensive model of a FC electric truck in a multi-physics simulation platform, creating a predictive model for FC stacks and the Balance of Plant (BoP). This innovative research introduces an Energy Management System (EMS) that optimizes hydrogen consumption. The study underscores Garrett’s commitment to sustainable innovation and the advancement of energy-efficient technologies.

Boosting system considerations for a Fuel Cell based HD Commercial Vehicle – In another deep-dive study, Garrett Motion collaborates to explore the role of turbomachinery-based boosting systems in improving the power density of fuel cell hybrid trucks. The research outlines the challenges and trade-offs inherent in enhancing these systems while reducing their impact on fuel consumption. The research underlines Garrett’s ongoing efforts to optimize and evolve technologies for cleaner and more efficient transport systems.
