Honeywell and IROOTECH to Demonstrate Software Platform for Off-Highway Commercial Vehicles and Equipment
HANNOVER, Germany, April 24, 2018 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and IROOTECH Technology Co., Ltd, signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and demonstrate a Vehicle Health Management Platform for off-highway vehicles and equipment beginning at the Hannover Messe trade fair for industrial technology in Germany this week.
Off-highway equipment is vital to several important industries, including construction, mining and agriculture. Equipment downtime extracts a huge cost from operators across these industries.
Honeywell’s prognostic software can help identify potential issues and when they may occur. Combined with IROOTECH’s RootCloud, an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) data platform, fleet managers can better plan maintenance schedules and rotate equipment to avoid downtime and loss of production.
Off-highway vehicles and equipment have become more complex given the increase in electrical components. This has made the service technician’s job more difficult in properly identifying the health status of vehicles and equipment and the root cause of faults should one occur.
Once armed with that information, technicians will be able to use Honeywell’s new Guided Diagnosis System to address maintenance issues. This new technology platform relies upon both Honeywell’s decades of experience as a hardware technology provider as well as its sophisticated software algorithms to help technicians improve the accuracy and efficiency of servicing their fleet. By getting the repairs right the first time, fleet managers can avoid costly missteps in making errant or unnecessary repairs.
“With more than 60 years of experience in the automotive industry, Honeywell has extensive experience for developing software monitoring solutions in various areas such as for aerospace, gas and oil, and other critical industrial industries,” said Cristina Segal, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Connected Vehicles. “In working with IROOTECH, we are helping create another integrated platform for serving the off-highway aftermarket with critical information to improve costs and productivity.”
“IROOTECH has rich experience with the Industrial Internet, accumulating more than 10 years of technology data on our RootCloud platform, which provides our customers in different industries with cloud service connectivity and big data technology. We are leading the creation of this industrial data ecosystem through the collaborations with software, hardware and telecom suppliers in all industries such as Honeywell,” said Dongdong He, IROOTECH chief executive officer. “Together we use advanced data technology to improve the health management of off-highway equipment, and increase customer revenue and industry efficiency.”
